James Li — Antisemite of the Week

James Li is a conspiracist who brands himself as a champion of “independent thought.” In reality, he uses that persona to spread long-standing antisemitic tropes and conspiracy theories disguised as critical inquiry. Framed as skepticism, his commentary distorts the nature of antisemitism and vilifies Jewish communities. Across social media, Li’s reach extends to hundreds of thousands, where he normalizes antisemitic ideas and emboldens followers to express bigotry under the guise of “questioning power.”

James Li’s videos repeatedly rely on the long-standing antisemitic conspiracy theories that portray Israel – and, by extension, Jewish people – as secretly controlling governments, media, or global events. They suggest that Jews wield disproportionate influence over American politics, speech, and information, echoing harmful myths about dual loyalty and manipulation. Such rhetoric spreads hate and distorts legitimate political discourse.

James Li:

Posted “They aren’t even hiding it anymore. Israel owns America.”
Perpetuated the falsehood that Israel pays influencers for their posts, stating that America gives money to Israel and Israel is then using that money to “put Israeli interests above our own.”
Shared a video of an alleged letter from the State of Israel, captioned, “leaves no doubt who controls speech in America.”
Captioned a post of his podcast episode, “This is going to upset a lot of people, but it’s time to wake up to the fact that the Trump administration is entirely controlled by corporate interests… and people loyal to Israel.”
Accused Israel of assassinating Charlie Kirk.
Released a video about the Tik Tok ban that “uncovers how the Israel Lobby and other Zionist organizations orchestrated the ban” In this video, Li states that “those in power will do whatever it takes to control the flow of information. Like banning an app for no reason other than because they don’t like the information shared on that app.”

Furthermore, James Li uses language in his content that depicts the very existence of a Jewish homeland as dependent on manipulation and coercion, recasting Jewish self-determination as a global threat. Li blames Israel for endangering Jewish safety, which inverts reality and promotes the notion that Jews themselves are responsible for antisemitism. Using this type of rhetoric demonizes and dehumanizes an entire people.

Stated that Israel’s survival “depends on deception, bribery, manipulation, and coercion… the truth threatens its very existence.”
Stated that Israel was founded by “Zionist terrorists” and that “they quite literally invented terrorism itself.”
Argues that the definition of antisemitism does not protect Jews and is instead about “protecting Israel from accountability.”
Perpetuates the debunked conspiracy that Israel was involved in 9/11.
In response to the senseless killing of two Jewish embassy workers in D.C. earlier this year, James Li commented that since the gunman shouted “Free Palestine” his “beef is with Israel, not Jews.” He followed up by saying, “Maybe let’s not tie a religion to a genocidal state, and see what effect that has on “antisemitism.”

Li’s rhetoric distorts reality in a way that consistently weaponizes antisemitic tropes. In doing so, he blames Jews for antisemitism, normalizes antisemitic stereotypes, and fosters prejudice across his massive platform.

On the one year anniversary of the Oct. 7 massacre, James Li posted a ten-part thread on X to “tear apart the web of lies” spread by “Israel, its media puppets, and bought-and-paid-for politicians.” This post reports atrocities committed by Hamas and paints them as Israel’s fabricated war propaganda. Most notably, Li describes “Israel and its media allies pushed a narrative of mass rape as a deliberate strategy” claiming that “this false narrative continues to be weaponized today to paint Hamas as monsters…” Not only does James Li glorify and excuse terrorist violence, he weaponizes conspiracy theories to delegitimize Jewish suffering and spread dangerous falsehoods.

Platforms that host this content give James Li a megaphone for hate, causing real harm to Jewish communities worldwide. James Li’s posts continue to violate community guidelines put forth by Instagram and X.
