A swastika was found drawn on a locker at school in Fairfield.
Superintendent Michael Testani said it was found this week.
“Other isolated incidents of inappropriate and antisemitic hate speech have occurred in some of our schools,” Testani said in a letter to the school community.
Those found responsible for antisemitism and hate speech in Fairfield schools will be disciplined, according to Testani. He also said the police may get involved.
“Antisemitism has no place in our schools, our community, or our world. We must educate ourselves and our children about the dangers of hatred and intolerance and work together to create a culture of acceptance and empathy,” said Testani.

Dear FPS Families,
I am reaching out to our community about a topic that is dominating our news and social media feeds. Across the country, antisemitism and hate speech have erupted, not only on college campuses, but unfortunately here in Fairfield. This week, a swastika was discovered drawn on a locker. Other isolated incidents of inappropriate and antisemitic hate speech have occurred in some of our schools. There is absolutely no circumstance where any student should have to be fearful in school and yet, some of our Jewish students are experiencing this hate firsthand. This is unacceptable. ALL students have a fundamental right to learn in a safe and welcoming environment.
Antisemitism has no place in our schools, our community, or our world. We must educate ourselves and our children about the dangers of hatred and intolerance and work together to create a culture of acceptance and empathy.
Our faculty and security team continue to remain vigilant, and any incidents will be dealt with swiftly and appropriately. I want to reiterate that those who participate in these types of inappropriate behaviors will face disciplinary action with the potential for police involvement.
As I’ve stated before, Fairfield is a special community and many of our families continue to show kindness, love, support, and compassion for one another. At school, our staff works hard each day to uphold these same values by providing opportunities for students to learn about different cultures, focusing on acceptance and inclusion, presenting community speakers, and participating in programs to inspire conversation surrounding being responsible members of society. I ask that you help us fight hate by continuing these critical conversations at home.
I urge you to join me in reaffirming our commitment to a diverse and inclusive learning environment for all students. Let us lead by example, showing kindness and compassion to one another, and standing up against injustice wherever we may encounter it.
Together, we can build a brighter future for our children, free from the shadows of prejudice and discrimination.
Sincerely,Michael J. Testani FPS Superintendent of Schools
