‘Goyim Defense League’ (GDL) Harasses Michigan Neighborhood with Anti-Jewish Leaflets
- January 21, 2025
Antisemitic and white supremacist flyers are appearing on doorsteps in some Michigan communities, according to state officials.
In a Facebook post, Michigan Rep. Jasper Martus said people in Flushing have received such flyers, including one of his family members.
Martus said the increasing amount of antisemitic rhetoric is becoming a growing concern and is looking for help from his community in shutting it down.
“There’s no place in Flushing, in Michigan, or in America for those types of views,” Martus said.
Flyers promoting bigotry landed on doorsteps of a number of homes in Flushing, including his grandfather’s.
“Our community needs to strongly condemn these sorts of actions because if we don’t, they’re just going to be more emboldened,” Martus said.
The antisemitic flyers contained QR codes and links to GTV Flyers, a channel run by the Goyim Defense League. The Jewish advocacy group StopAntisemitism has been tracking the activities of the Goyim Defense League’ or ‘GDL’ for many years and state they vilify Jews with their premeditated hate campaigns.
“Combing through these leaflets, there was rhetoric pertaining to a great replacement theory, that Jewish folks are controlling the media and really just some of the worst antisemitic and white nationalist propaganda that I’ve seen in quite some time,” Martus said.
Martus said the flyers he’s seen were found on his grandfather’s porch on Sunday, Jan. 19.
The flyers had been packed into plastic bags with what appeared to be beans. Rhetoric used includes phrases like “Communism is Jewish,” “White lives matter,” and, “Stop race mixing and immigration.”
“Those sorts of views are un-American. They’re unwelcomed here,” Martus said.
It’s not yet known exactly how many flyers have been distributed in the area, but Martus said police are investigating.
However, he said that doesn’t make him feel any better.
“While it may not be more than a crime of littering at this point, folks that feel emboldened to spew such hate and such anger, there’s no telling what they could do next,” Martus said.
The Flushing Police Department was contacted to find out if similar incidents have been reported, but have not yet made a comment.
