Darializa Avila Chevalier

Darializa Avila Chevalier, an NYC-based Afro-Latina and recent convert to Islam, is a democratic socialist who has won the Democratic primary for New York's 13th Congressional District. She represents a parasitic brand of socialism that is deeply hostile to American interests, Western democratic values, and the Jewish state. Her ideological agenda is fundamentally at odds with the very principles of liberal democracy she now seeks to represent.

Chevalier's troubling history includes:

  • Participating in a pro-Palestinian protest in Times Square on October 8th 2023, one day after the Hamas terror attacks. She later defended her participation, saying she expected Israel's response "would be an outsized reaction that would cause the death of thousands upon thousands of people."
  • Co-founding Columbia University Apartheid Divest (CUAD), which advocates for Columbia University to sever ties with Israel. A since-deleted CUAD post stated: "We are Westerners fighting for the total eradication of Western civilization... Our Intifada is an internationalist one... we seek community and instruction from militants in the Global South..."
  • Participating in Columbia's encampment protests which included violent, unlawful actions and excluded Jewish students from campus.
  • Organizing for Mahmoud Khalil's release and describing his actions as "free speech".
  • Saying that, if elected to Congress, one of her first priorities would be "to start by divesting from this war machine [Israel]."

Chevalier's social media posts (most of which have since been deleted) paint an equally disturbing picture, revealing hostility towards the Jewish state, sympathy for extremist rhetoric, and contempt for American values, including:

  • Reposting, "Israel doesn't exist."
  • Responding to a comparison of U.S. and Hamas violence by writing, "Only one is a nuclear power that's ever used that kind of force, not to mention the countless other forms of colonial violence that it's enacted."
  • Sharing a post asserting that capitalism embodies "literally every failing" while mocking anti-communist arguments.
  • Sharing a post describing wiping dirty hands on the American flag instead of using a napkin.
  • Stating: "I am running for Congress because I see the links between the violence that Palestinians face under Israeli apartheid and the violence Black communities face from American law enforcement."

These statements are not isolated lapses in judgment - they reinforce a consistent pattern of demonization and singling out the Jewish state while promoting anti-American rhetoric and ideological radicalism that should concern every voter.

How can pro-democracy, common-sense voters support a candidate like Darializa Avila Chevalier given her radical views and deeply concerning record? Her rhetoric reflects an ideological strain that has been steadily gaining ground in parts of American politics, and New York City is no exception.

When candidates abandon pragmatic governance in favor of divisive, activist-driven agendas, the consequences extend far beyond a single election, shaping the future of the city for years to come.

Now the question stands: Will moderate New Yorkers reject this socialist nightmare at the ballot box and instead throw their support behind her centrist opponent, Manual Williams?
