Gretchen Felker-Martin

Gretchen Felker-Martin

Gretchen Felker-Martin, 36, is a New Hampshire–based horror author whose works include Manhunt (2022), Cuckoo(2024), and Black Flame (2025). Originally self-published, she has since gained mainstream recognition and is currently writing DC Comics’ Red Hood series with artist Jeff Spokes.

Despite her professional achievements, Felker-Martin is equally known for her antisemitic rhetoric. She has a long record of glorifying terrorism, promoting violent extremism, and engaging in antisemitic attacks. While many of her most inflammatory statements have since been deleted, they remain preserved in screenshots and widely discussed across literary and entertainment circles. This disturbing history raises serious concerns as to why DC Comics, one of the most influential publishers in the world, would employ an individual who openly promotes terrorism and antisemitism – a decision that is not only deeply troubling but emblematic of the dangerous normalization of hate within mainstream publishing and pop culture.

Gretchen Felker-Martin’s social media posts reveal a clear pattern of antisemitism, violence, and being a terror apologist. On October 7th, the singular most deadly day for Jewish people since the Holocaust, Gretchen Felker-Martin took it upon herself to defend Hamas on X in a series of posts described below:

  • Felker-Martin blamed Israel instead of Hamas for their October 7th attacks, stating that you can’t “blame them for violent action taken to correct this state”.
  • In an X post uploaded the day after October 7th, Felker-Martin blamed Israel on the “inevitable” mass murders done by Hamas, saying: “Israel poured money, weapons, and military training into Hamas as part of their far-reaching efforts to kill, atomize, and jail Left-wing Palestinian leadership and organizations. they made these events inevitable through their own cruelty and fascism.”
  • Underneath a previous comment, she added, “All deaths are tragedies, but settlers are not civilians – they are an occupying force whose daily lives serve to grind out the hope, culture, and memory of those they oppress.”
  • In the connecting thread, Felker-Martin posted blaming Israelis for bringing children into “these imperialist nightmares” and claims the crime does not belong to “those who must survive their rule by any means necessary”.

These statements are not just distortions of history – they are outright antisemitic. To excuse or justify the mass murder of Jews while erasing their right to exist in their homeland is to perpetuate the very hatred that fueled October 7th. This rhetoric is cruel in the immediate aftermath of the attack and emphasizes classic antisemitic tropes of Jewish culpability and conspiracy.

Gretchen Felker-Martin’s antisemitic and extremist rhetoric does not end with her defense of Hamas. Below are several examples of her most alarming statements:

  • She stated, “That Jewish writers have contributed to this panic while hiding behind their cultural history to deflect criticism is a crime as revolting as those of the collaborators with Hitler’s regime.”
  • One month after posting about her disregard for Jewish lives lost on October 7th, she declared “from the river to the sea” – a call for the dismantling of the world’s only Jewish state and a rallying cry that has been weaponized by terrorist groups.
  • In a since deleted post, Felker-Martin praised Bin Laden stating, that her and Bin Laden do not agree on much but “blowing up the World Trade Center is probably the most principled and defensible thing he ever did”.

Furthermore, Gretchen Felker-Martin has a disturbing history of threating Jewish journalist Jesse Singal by detailing gruesome details of his death. In one post, she expressed her desire to “bind Jesse Singal with strong rope and bring him to the quarry at the end of town… Leave, and no matter the sounds you hear, do not look back”.

More recently, Felker-Martin posted on X (since been deleted) that Singal – alongside Helen Joyce and J.K. Rowling – should have their throats slit, writing: “Blood on Jessie Singal’s hands, blood on Helen Joyce’s, Rowling’s … If they all had one throat, man.”

These are not isolated incidents. As far back as 2017, Felker-Martin threatened a Massachusetts city councilor by saying, “we’re gonna bury your lonely corpse in the overgrown lot behind State Liquors, Michael.” Her repeated use of violent imagery shows a consistent pattern of targeting and dehumanizing those she disagrees with.

The violent rhetoric Gretchen Felker-Martin has repeatedly broadcast across social media normalizes extremism, fuels hostility, and poses a direct risk to Jewish communities. Even more concerning is her position as a writer with DC Comics – a brand whose fan base includes millions of readers worldwide, many of whom are underage. As an author, Felker-Martin is expected to regularly attend panels, conventions, and other public events while interacting with these comic fans. Allowing an individual who has made explicit violent threats to occupy a role that interacts with such a large and diverse community is irresponsible and dangerous.

Gretchen Felker-Martin’s bigotry poses a threat to Jewish comic fans and convention attendees alike. We are calling for DC Comics to take action immediately and terminate Gretchen Felker-Martin from her position.

UPDATE: Thank you to everyone that participated in this call to action. DC Comics has officially cancelled the Red Hood project featuring antisemite Gretchen Felker-Martin.
