Eman Abdelhadi

Eman Abdelhadi, sister of Michigan extremist politician and current U.S. Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed, is a University of Chicago associate professor and prominent anti-Israel "activist" who frequently and publicly utilizes antisemitic rhetoric that she shares with her 45,000+ followers on social media.

Abdelhadi's rhetoric warrants particular scrutiny because of her position as a professor with authority over young people. Her views do not stop at the protest line; they enter the classroom with her. Like her brother, Abdelhadi has built a public profile around extreme radicalism.

In 2022, Abdelhadi coauthored the book Everything for Everyone: An Oral History of the New York Commune, which depicts a communist society in which Israel is destroyed following what it calls a "Final Intifada." In October 2025, she was arrested during an anti-ICE demonstration and charged with two counts of aggravated battery to a government employee and two counts of resisting or obstructing peace.

Most concerning is Abdelhadi's public commentary surrounding October 7th - the deadliest day for Jews since the Holocaust. Her statements include:

• Posting on the morning of 10/7 that Palestinians are "finally fighting their oppressors."
• Following the attacks, she stated: "Let Palestine break this country wide open. Long live the student intifada."
• Posting "Morning freedom" on the morning of 10/7.
• Regarding Jewish students who said they felt unsafe at campus encampments: "You don't look unsafe. You don't look like you're scared... it's hard to separate the rhetoric of safety from the reality of safety."
• Reframing October 7 as an "uprising" while stating: "I'm sure there were rapes. But the mass rape allegations as they were presented by the Israeli media remain unsubstantiated."

Abdelhadi's rhetoric repeatedly manifests in antisemitic themes, including denying the Jewish people their right to self-determination and portraying Israel and Zionism as inherently racist, colonialist, genocidal, and illegitimate. Abdelhadi's statements include:

• Stating, "Zionism--i.e. the system of Jewish supremacy--must be systematically dismantled… Genocide of Palestinians is the natural consequence of Zionism, and if it's allowed to reign… no Palestinian is safe."
• Claiming, "They (Israel) will destroy the whole world to protect their genocide."
• Posting, "The whole region needs freedom from Zionism."
• Stating, "Israel is a settler colony with an apartheid regime. The struggle for Palestinian liberation is a decolonization struggle."
• Encouraging others to "build power… demand your institution cuts ties with Israel… We need our entire society to cut ties with this genocidal state."
• Stating that "Zionists will sacrifice every last freedom and institution in US society to protect Israel."
• Claiming that Israel is starving Gaza while referring to Israelis as "settlers" who "regularly sit on highways to block aid to Gaza."

This pattern of antisemitic rhetoric dismisses Jewish suffering and repeatedly portrays Israel and Zionism - the Jewish right to self determination - through sweeping claims of genocide, colonialism, and control over American institutions. It encourages collective blame and creates an environment where Jewish students' concerns about antisemitism are dismissed or ignored. Most dangerously, it normalizes extremist rhetoric that actively puts Jewish communities, specifically her students, at risk.

Jews, like everyone else, deserve a university environment free from faculty who publicly promote rhetoric that demonizes them, normalizes extremism, and threatens their sense of safety and belonging.
