Anne Norton

Anne Norton, a disgraced professor at the University of Pennsylvania, has come under fire for disseminating antisemitic sentiments on X. This comes after nearly a year of controversy surrounding former President Liz Magill who brought shame to the campus and allowed a culture of Jew-hatred to persist under her failed leadership.

Mega investors Henry & Stacy Jackson announced they were withdrawing their funding from the University of Pennsylvania due to antisemitic social media posts by Norton highlighted by StopAntisemitism. The Jacksons, who have supported Norton through their President’s Distinguished Professorship since 2018, expressed concern over Norton’s controversial remarks, including endorsing a post claiming Jewish people excel at “playing the victim” and minimizing the plight of Israelis held hostage by Hamas terrorists. The Jacksons strongly condemn antisemitism and are in discussions with the university to terminate their association with her professorship.

Professor Norton’s tweets and academic record are riddled with antisemitic fallacies, such as:

  • On May 14, 2024, Norton claimed that Netanyahu and Israel were behind the creation and financing of Hamas. She further asserted that the lack of elections in Gaza since 2006 was due to Israel imprisoning all viable candidates.
  • January 9, 2024, Norton liked a tweet that stated, “Western barbarism fully supports Nazi-like Zionists.”
  • On October 12, 2023, Norton stated Jews were brainwashing younger Jews to play the victim card.
  • In April of 2021, Norton tweeted that antisemitism should not be solely restricted to including just Jews. She asserted that it was political and should be “resisted.”
  • On October 7th, Norton liked a series of tweets that justified the October 7th massacre.

Norton also dabbles in Holocaust Inversion by comparing the war in Gaza to Nazi Germany and attempts to downplay the sexual assaults by Hamas on civilians on 10/7, requesting that someone refrain from amplifying the story.
