Swastika Flag Found Hanging Outside the California Department of Corrections

The Nazi flag had been posted inside the Department of Corrections building in downtown Sacramento at 16th and T Streets. State parole officers sad that the paraphernalia had all been posted for training, adding that the flag and signs have since been removed. They added that the items had been confiscated from local prisoners and parolees, shown to staff to showcase the various hate present at the facilities.

But the community does not feel that the department chose an acceptable method to teach their lesson. ‘In this context, I don’t believe it was being delivered in that manner,’ a witness stated.

The CDCR released a statement saying that they had ‘zero-tolerance policy’ for signs to be posted that are derogatory.  ‘CDCR has a zero-tolerance policy for the display of objects that are derogatory in nature and we are taking this issue very seriously,’ the CDCR stated. ‘The flag has been removed and we will be looking into the circumstances for why the flag was in the office in the first place.’

Parole agents said that they would not put up any more displays in the future.
