New York Man Faces Charges After Violent Antisemitic Attack on Jewish Teenager and Adult

A Delaware County man is accused of trying to hit two people with his vehicle, including a teen, while yelling antisemitic comments.

According to New York State Police, on May 9th, Zachary Hoffman Kowatch, 22, of Arkville was traveling along Main Street in the Village of Fleischmanns when he began shouting the comments at a teenager on a bike.

Hoffman Kowatch then attempted to intentionally strike the teen and an adult with his vehicle before fleeing the scene.

He was later found at his home and taken into custody.

Hoffman Kowatch is charged with reckless endangerment in the first degree, a felony, endangering the welfare of a child and aggravated unlicensed operation, both misdemeanors. He is being held without bail in the Delaware County Jail.
