Vermont Ski Resort Terminates Employees Over Anti-Jewish Social Media Post

Jay Peak Resort has fired five employees after they posted an antisemitic photo on Instagram over the weekend.

The resort says that displays like this aren’t accepted or tolerated at Jay Peak. On Tuesday afternoon, NBC5 learned that the employees, who had previously been on unpaid leave, were let go following a meeting earlier in the day.

NBC5 spoke with an employee on Tuesday, who told us that the photo is the exact opposite of what staff at the resort stand for.

“It’s not something you joke about, it’s a pretty serious event,” said the employee, who wanted to remain anonymous due to the nature of the investigation.

Jay Peak Resort said all of the employees in the social media post were working at the resort through the J-1 Visa program.

NBC5 has obtained a copy of the image but has chosen to blur it because it contains offensive symbols and gestures of five employees with homemade swastika armbands doing a Nazi salute.

Jay Peak President Steve Wright, told NBC5 that the five employees had been fired.
